What is TRAVELFEED? This app allows users to schedule their trips conveniently and efficiently by providing helpful information or suggesting itineraries at destinations on over the world. It also helps users manage time, attractions, and budget during the journey. Besides, this is also a community sharing travel experiences. This project is to fill in the lack of a Travel planning app in Social Media format, hoping that people can have a go-to place when it comes to travel planning and inspiration.
I defined the target user as: young people from 18 to 38 years old belong to the Millennial generation – who are not afraid of “hard” are only afraid of “waiting”, hating having to waste time, love technology, internet, travel experience, discover and conquer, like to share and have high community cohesion.
One-third of travelers reported using social media frequently or very frequently to plan a vacation, mostly for travel tips and advice (57 percent), and looking at photos of places they plan to visit (56 percent).
To prepare for the trio, usually, they have to make a plan, but often encounter problems such as:
For TRAVELFEED:
After analyzing feedback from user interviews and competitive usability testing, I created 3 lightweight user personas for TravelFeed based on their different behaviors:

The homepage features the search bar and trending travel destinations. Below the panel, there is a section for all categories.
The favorite screen shows all the saved destinations and itineraries, with the option to group them by category.
News Feed is where to show the user’s friends and following posts. This might include rating, pictures, and itinerary.
Profile screen is the hub for the user to store their information, stories, and photos.
Review screen show picture, title, rating, and details about the description and review.
When searching for a person to follow, the user can choose gender, age, location, and mutual friends.
We performed usability testing on 5 users who fit the persona.
There were 5 tasks during the testing:
Below are key takeaways from our usability testing.
Llikes the filters. Would love to have an option to reserve a spot to work.
2 Search for a placeHaving trouble with the filter options. Prefer to be able to follow by interests.
3 Search for a personLikes the aesthetic look of the app. User flow is seamless. This person would love to see if he can create an account and save his favorite spots.
4 Review a placePrefer to see the whole trip by timeline view and map view rather than list view.
5 Manage a trip
This is exactly what I have been looking for. I like that all contents on this platform is curated for travelers and the filters work in travelers' favor as well.
